FAQs

  • Expect a consultation and awesome cut. Our stylists take pride in being hair care experts, which means they’ll take the time to discuss the health of your child’s hair, hair goals, style options, and best suited for their lifestyle.  They will also help recommend hair care products that will maintain the style while protecting their hair, scalp, and skin.

If you would like a Full-service hair experience, we recommend adding-on a shampoo, condition, and blowdry to any haircut!

  • You know your child best, but here are a few helpful tips to prepare for your first trip to Sit Still

•. Chat them up! A little advance hype for the visit can make them much more excited about the prospect of some good hair.

•. Visit the salon. Stop in and say hi before your appointment! We’ll show your child around and show them what makes our space special. Or arrive a little early if possible.

    •. Make sure they’re rested and fed. We’ve all been there: a tired/hungry kid = meltdown o’clock.

•. Words matter! Some kids may hear “cut” and think “ouch.” Consider using a different term, like “hairstyle” or “hair trim”.

  • Take a few minutes to review our menu before you book your appointment or give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to speak to you in detail about our service offerings.

  • We ask clients to reschedule or cancel appointments no later than the policy time that is determined by each location. Cancellations that are not made in this window will be charged in full. No shows will be charged in full. This policy is in place to respect our Stylists’ time and Clients on our waitlist. However, we understand life happens, and we never want to make your day more difficult so just give us a call and we’ll do our best to help.

  • • Cleanliness in our salons is a top priority - you’ll find our team carefully sanitizing between all appointments.

    • Sanitizer is readily available throughout the salon.

    • A self-cleaning and all-natural product is applied to surfaces in the salon that are high touch-points (door handles & push plates).

    • High-tech air purification and filtration system to reduce pathogens in the air.

  • Call to book an appointment. Our guest expert will guide you through our pre-book questions to set up the best service option for your kiddo.

  • If you need to reschedule your appointment, please call before 24 hours. If it is within 24 hours, you will be charged for the appointment.

  • Our salons are designed to be accessible for all, and we are happy to make accommodations to suit your needs. If you have a special request, please reach out to our team so we can ensure that your visit is easy and enjoyable for the whole family!

  • We offer creative color for kids in the form of colored tips or panels only.

  • Before puberty, follicles on the scalp are delicate. When we color the ends only, we are making sure that the lightener and color are not touching the developing follicles. Using this technique will leave your child’s hair in the best condition possible.

Color is a long process! We’ve found that offering these introductory color options allow kids to have the best of both worlds- a fun new color without spending an entire day at the salon.

  • For the purest and longest lasting color, the area of the hair that will have color will have to be lightened. When color is applied without lightening the hair, results can fade faster and look muddier.

  • All hair has a natural underlying pigment. If color is placed directly onto the hair without first adding lightener, this natural underlying pigment can alter the final result and cause the color to look muddy. Applying lightener beforehand creates a blank canvas upon which to apply the color and ensures more predictable results (think about the difference between drawing with marker on a piece of white paper versus a piece of colored construction paper).

  • Any chemical process applied to the hair can potentially damage the hair cuticle. Our stylists are trained to use the best technique to minimize damage and will recommend an after care regime for optimal hair health.

  • Yes. We use non-oxidative dye which requires no additional chemicals for mixing. A skin patch test is recommended for those with sensitivities.

The lightener we use is safe for both on and off scalp lightening.

  • Hair color starts at $75 and goes up to $190 not including the charge for additional bowls of product needed. If your child requires extra product than what is included in the service price, we will charge an extra $10 per product bowl. When you book your appointment, the stylist will be able to give you the estimated price range for your individual service.

  • On average most hair appointments will take between 75-90 mins. Factors such as current hair color, hair density, previous hair color can all affect the time. Our color appointments max out at 3 hours tops.

  • The color that we use is a semi-permanent color. This means that the color will fade out rather than grow out (however the area that is lightened will have to grow out. This just means chances for playing around with different colors while it grows out!). The brand we use generally lasts up to a month depending on the hair type, daily hair care, and porosity of the hair. Your stylist will guide you through after care to ensure the color lasts as long as possible.

  • 1. Consultation. This is required prior to booking your color service appointment and is where your stylist will get an idea of what kind of color you are looking for. They will also ask questions about your hair’s history and go through the after care.

    2. Lightener. If you are using lightener (strongly recommended) your stylist will apply the lightener first, let it process, rinse out, and blow dry.

    3. Color application: Your stylist will now be applying color to your hair, letting it process, rinse out, and blow dry.

  • This is for many reasons. During your consultation, your stylist will be able to make sure the correct service time is booked for your appointment, that they have the proper supplies on hand, and to explain both the process and after care. Having a consultation helps to ensure you get the best service possible!
